Red Silicone Rubber

When the temperature goes off the charts, every rubber gives up — except silicone. From -80°F up to 450°F peaks, it stays flexible and keeps sealing: neither an industrial oven door nor equipment left outside in January will faze it. Its distinctive terracotta-red colour also makes it the easiest gasket to spot during inspections.

Laseo laser-cuts your 60-durometer red silicone gaskets on a CO₂ laser, in 1/16 and 1/8 in., straight from your drawing — no die, no minimum. It’s the material of oven seals, dryer doors, heated flanges and food-processing equipment.

Key properties

Unmatched temperature range: -80°F to +450°F (the maximum is for peaks; plan lower for continuous service) — no other common elastomer covers such a span.

Aging: practically immune to UV and ozone; it doesn’t harden or crack over the years, with low compression set for a long sealing life.

Inertness: no taste or odour transfer, the classic choice around food equipment, breweries and dairies.

Cold flexibility: where nitrile turns brittle at -20°F, silicone still flexes at -80°F — priceless for outdoor equipment in a Canadian winter.

Not to be confused: our silicone is terracotta red, but it is not the traditional “red rubber gasket” — that one is an 80-durometer red SBR, limited to 176°F. For heat, silicone; for a budget water gasket, red SBR.

Its limits: lower mechanical and abrasion resistance than other rubbers, and poor resistance to oils and fuels. Oily joint → nitrile; rubbing part → SBR or neoprene.

Common applications

Oven, dryer, autoclave and industrial kiln door gaskets.

Heated flange, element and hot-air duct seals.

Food-processing, brewery and dairy equipment gaskets.

Outdoor lighting fixtures and electronics enclosures exposed to deep freeze.

Design tips

Silicone tears more easily: keep at least 0.035 in. between holes and edges, and avoid very thin tabs.

Torque moderately — 15-25% compression is enough; over-crushing shortens its life.
