Oil-resistant nitrile NBR rubber gasket cut to size

Nitrile (NBR)

Nitrile (NBR)

The moment a gasket touches oil, grease or fuel, nitrile is the rubber you want. NBR — also sold as Buna-N — is the standard elastomer of machinery: sump gaskets, pump seals, hydraulic reservoir covers. Where EPDM or SBR would swell and fall apart within weeks, nitrile keeps sealing for years.

Laseo cuts your NBR gaskets on a CO₂ laser straight from your drawing — handy for replacing the gasket of a pump whose manufacturer no longer exists, or producing ten identical seals without paying for a die. Available in 1/16 and 1/8 in., 60 Shore A durometer.

Key properties

Petroleum resistance: motor and hydraulic oils, greases, diesel, gasoline, kerosene — nitrile’s specialty.

Temperature range: -20°F to +190°F (-29°C to +88°C), covering the vast majority of machinery applications.

Good mechanical strength: solid abrasion and compression behaviour, it handles repeated flange torquing well.

Hardness: 60 Shore A, the standard for cut gaskets — firm under the bolt, compliant on imperfect surfaces.

Its limits: sunlight and ozone crack it over time — for permanent outdoor exposure choose EPDM or neoprene. It also dislikes ketones and chlorinated solvents.

Common applications

Sump, valve cover and flange gaskets on engines and transmissions.

Pump, compressor, hydraulic and pneumatic system seals.

Fuel tank gaskets and farm or forestry equipment seals.

Wear pads and strips anywhere oil is unavoidable in the shop.

Design tips

Target 20-30% compression for a full-face gasket. Pick 1/8 in. if your flange surfaces are worn or scratched.

Leave at least 0.035 in. between a bolt hole and the gasket edge.

Send the original gasket drawing (DXF or dimensioned sketch) and get an identical part back — no minimum order.
