CO₂ Laser Engraving

CO₂ laser engraving is a high-precision permanent marking process that uses a focused laser beam to create patterns, text, logos and designs on a wide variety of materials. The laser vaporizes or modifies the material surface in a controlled manner, creating a durable and professional visual contrast. This non-contact technique ensures exceptional precision, allowing the reproduction of fine details, QR codes, serial numbers and complex graphics with remarkable sharpness.

Unlike traditional marking methods that can fade over time, laser engraving is permanent and resistant to wear, chemicals and harsh environmental conditions. This process is ideal for industrial part identification, product customization, signage, commemorative plaques and decorative applications.

Technical Specifications

What you need to know about CO₂ laser engraving

  • Compatible with metals (aluminum, stainless steel, brass, copper), plastics (acrylic, ABS, Delrin, HDPE, Lamacoid) and wood (plywood, MDF, HDF).
  • Creates permanent and indelible marking that resists wear, chemicals and harsh environmental conditions.
  • Exceptional precision allowing reproduction of fine details, small text, complex logos and QR codes.
  • Ideal for part identification, product customization, signage, nameplates and decorative applications.
  • Non-contact process that does not damage the material and creates no burrs or mechanical deformations.
  • Controlled engraving depth depending on material, typically between 0.001" and 0.020" for metals and plastics.
  • Visual contrast varies by material: light on anodized metals, dark on clear plastics, contrasted on Lamacoids.
  • Can be combined with laser cutting to create parts that are both cut and engraved in a single operation.
  • Engraving patterns are reproduced with repeatable precision, ideal for series production.
  • Accepted file formats for engraving: AI, SVG, DXF, DWG, EPS with vector outlines or high-resolution bitmap images.
  • Maximum engraving dimensions depend on part size and our CO₂ laser equipment capacity.

Available engraving types

There are three distinct types of laser engraving. Laseo currently offers two methods, with a third in development.

Line Engraving

Available

Engraving on outline only. Only method allowed for metals.

Ideal for: Outline text and logos, minimalist designs, metal engraving (aluminum, stainless steel, brass, copper).

Fill Engraving

Available

Surface completely filled by engraving. Strong visual contrast.

Ideal for: Solid logos, bold text, plastics (acrylic, ABS), wood (plywood, MDF), Lamacoid sheets.

Raster Engraving

Coming Soon

Images and photos with grayscale shading. Photographic rendering.

Ideal for: Photos, portraits, complex images with gradients. In active development.

Important: Metal Limitations

Line engraving only on metals

For metallic materials (aluminum, stainless steel, brass, copper), only line engraving is available. Fill and raster engraving are not permitted on metals due to current technical limitations of our equipment.

Our system will automatically detect your material and only offer compatible engraving types.
