Baltic Birch Plywood

Multi-ply birch veneer panel, Baltic birch offers excellent stiffness, good screw-holding, and high dimensional stability. It machines cleanly on CNC for jigs, boxes, drawers, panels, displays, and light furniture parts.

Sanded faces ready to finish, aesthetic striated edges from plies, clean edges after machining. The material accepts stain, varnish, lacquer, or paint well; sealing edges improves durability and cut cleanliness.

Key Characteristics

Structure: Glued birch plies for high stiffness/weight ratio and reliable flatness.

Finish: Smooth sanded faces; visible laminated edges appreciated for design.

Cut orientation: Visible face in rendering is treated as top; prefer consistent grain orientation on visible parts.

Process: CNC machining/cutting (typical tolerance ±0.010").

Holding tabs: Small tabs may remain at perimeter; remove by sanding/light deburring.

Moisture: Hygroscopic material; seal faces and edges to limit warping and absorption.

Service temperature: Ambient; avoid prolonged extreme heat and moisture.

Chemical compatibility: Mild cleaning (soapy water); strong solvents may stain or alter finish.

Outdoor/UV: Mainly indoor use; for exposure, plan appropriate finish and edge protection.

Common Applications

Jigs, machining fixtures, trays, and supports.

Boxes, drawers, shelves, dividers, and decorative panels.

Displays, panels, interior signs, and 2D lettering.

Lids, bottoms, light enclosures, and furniture elements.

Design Best Practices

Prefer small internal radii rather than sharp corners to reduce ply delamination risk.

Pre-drill for screws and inserts; use appropriate wood screws and washers if needed.

Seal edges after machining (varnish, sealer, or primer) to limit absorption and improve finish.

Store flat, stable indoor climate; finish both faces to balance tension and minimize warping.
