Laseo - The Back Story

My name is Jean-Philippe Rondeau, founder of Laseo. I've spent 25 years working in mechanical engineering across all kinds of projects. I'm also a pretty serious hands-on builder — I like making and building what I need myself.

Over all those years, I ran into the same problem dozens of times: needing to get a part made, and ending up on an obstacle course just to make it happen. Call 4 or 5 shops, send emails, sketch something up, wait for quotes, follow up, wait some more. When you need 1, 5 or 10 parts, nobody is really interested in giving you a price quickly. And when you finally get one, you've spent almost 3 times the cost of the parts just in wasted time trying to get them made right the first time.

The alternatives? Order from some overseas website and wait a month for a part that may or may not be right, or go through the US and hope it doesn't get held up at customs.

I figured there was no reason we couldn't have that here, in Canada. A place where it's simple to upload a drawing, pick a material, choose a few operations, and order — then receive your parts in a few days. No calls. No emails. No waiting. That's how Laseo was born, in 2025.

From your drawing to the Start button — nothing in between

Filling out paperwork and sending emails doesn't add value to the product. It's dead time between your idea and the moment we press Start on the production equipment. That's exactly what we set out to eliminate.

We spent over a year of full-time development building an application that handles everything between the moment you have a drawing and the moment we manufacture it:

  • Geometry decomposition — the application analyzes your part automatically
  • Manufacturability checks (DFM) — we tell you right away if something won't work
  • Realistic visualization — you see exactly what you'll receive, in the right material
  • Real-time price and lead time — every design choice updates the price and delivery date instantly
  • Automatic machining code generation — from drawing to machine, with no human intervention

The goal: make ordering a custom part as simple as ordering a meal at a restaurant.

Local, From Start to Finish

Laseo is based in Joliette, Quebec, Canada. All our manufacturing operations are done locally. About 80% of the work is done in-house, in our own shop. The rest goes to a few trusted local partners for specialized processes we don't do ourselves, like anodizing.

We pack and label every order solidly — your packages are built to survive the worst delivery driver. Shipping times are 24 to 48 hours in Eastern Canada.

Laseo shipped its first parts to customers in December 2025, and growth has been rapid since then. We keep adding processes and developing the application to make it easier to use all the time. If you see something you think could be better, don't hesitate to let us know at info@laseo.ca
