Design Warnings

Understand verifications and manufacturing limits.

Automatic Verifications

When you submit a drawing, we perform verifications to ensure we can produce the submitted part according to quality standards.

Respect Specifications

Parts must meet required specifications for each material. Consult our specific pages for mechanical properties, compatible finishes and usage recommendations for each material in the materials section.

Two Possible Scenarios

When you submit a drawing or select a material not meeting required specifications, 2 things can happen:

1. Popup Warning

You receive a design warning as popup, mentioning the problem with submitted drawing. This allows you to correct your design before continuing.

2. Automatic Filtering

If your design is only possible in certain materials and not in another, only compatible materials are displayed.

Example: 32" x 32" Part

For a 32" x 32" part, a wide variety of materials will be available, but not Lamacoid plates, chipboard or acetal as they have 24" maximum width.

Operations Limited by Material

When you select a material and an operation is not available for selected material, it won't be offered, or only offered dimensions will be displayed.

Example: 1/16" Aluminum

For 1/16" thick aluminum, the largest thread offered is M4x0.7 or #10-32, to have minimum thread engagement. Larger threads won't be in the offered threads list.

Types of Warnings
